Help for the NExS Wizard Excel add-in, which builds the nexs.app
worksheet NExS uses to turn a workbook into a web app.
Contact us
Email support@nexs.com with any question or problem.
We reply within 2 business days. To help us answer quickly, please include:
- which Excel you’re using (Windows, Mac, the web, or iPad) and its version,
- what you were doing and what happened, including the exact text of any error message,
- a screenshot, if you can.
Getting started
- Installing the add-in: get NExS Wizard from Microsoft Marketplace.
- User guide: build an app with the wizard, step by step.
Supported platforms
NExS Wizard works in:
- Excel for Windows
- Excel for Mac
- Excel on the web
- Excel for iPad
It needs a version of Excel that supports the Excel JavaScript API 1.9 or later. That means Microsoft 365, or Excel 2021 or later. Excel 2019 and earlier one-time-purchase versions aren’t supported.
Troubleshooting
The NExS Wizard button isn’t on the Home tab
- Restart Excel. A newly installed add-in sometimes appears only after Excel restarts.
- Look at the far right of the Home tab. If the Excel window is narrow, the button may be collapsed into a group, or under the … (more options) button.
- Check that it’s installed. On the Home tab, click Add-ins, then More Add-ins › My Add-ins. If NExS Wizard is listed, click it to open the panel. If not, install it.
- Check you’re signed in with the same account. Add-ins are tied to the Microsoft account you installed them with. If Excel is signed in with a different account, the add-in won’t appear.
- Ask your IT administrator. Some organizations block add-ins from Microsoft Marketplace, or deploy them centrally. If you can’t add NExS Wizard yourself, your administrator can deploy it from the Microsoft 365 admin center.
“This add-in requires a newer version of Excel”
NExS Wizard needs the Excel JavaScript API 1.9, which older versions of Excel don’t have (see Supported platforms).
- Microsoft 365 on Windows: go to File › Account › Update Options › Update Now, then restart Excel.
- Microsoft 365 on Mac: go to Help › Check for Updates, install any updates, then restart Excel.
- iPad: update Excel from the App Store.
- Excel 2019 or earlier: these versions can’t run NExS Wizard. Use Excel on the web instead — it’s free with a Microsoft account and always up to date.
The panel opens but stays blank or doesn’t load
NExS Wizard needs an internet connection to load. Check you’re online, then close the panel and open it again. If you’re on a corporate network, a firewall or proxy may be blocking it; let your IT team know, or try another network.
My nexs.app worksheet didn’t turn out as expected
The wizard rewrites the nexs.app worksheet from scratch every time you
generate it, so make your changes in the wizard panel, not on the worksheet
itself. Click Preview at the bottom of the panel to see exactly what
will be written. See
Generating the worksheet.
Removing the add-in
On the Home tab, click Add-ins, then More Add-ins › My Add-ins. Click the … menu on NExS Wizard and choose Remove.
Removing the add-in doesn’t change your workbooks. Any nexs.app
worksheets it has already written stay as they are, and your published NExS
apps keep working.
